Garage Sale Permits 

  • Garage Sale Permits are required for all garage sales held within the Van Buren city limits.
  • Permits may be obtained at the City Clerk's office in the Municipal Complex, located at 1003 Broadway.  Office hours are 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., and closed from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. for lunch.  
  • Signs advertising the sale should be placed in the city limits of Van Buren.
  • Each address is allowed 2 garage sales per calendar year (Jan 1- Dec 31).
  • Each garage sale occurrence can be up to 3 days in duration and at a cost of $5 per day.
  • Each address is allowed one free garage sale the weekend of "64 Galore" where a permit is not required.

DUE TO THE PANDEMIC: 

The Municipal Complex remains closed to the public.  In order to have a garage sale, you must have an issued permit. 


• Drop Box located at the Complex, 1003 Broadway, Van Buren.

• Write your name, address, phone number and the dates of the sale on the envelope provided on the box. Put your payment in the envelope and then into the drop box.

• Drop Box is checked twice each day.

• Permit cost is $5 each day of the sale up to three consecutive days.

• Payment must be check or money order.

• Permits are processed and mailed to you the same day as you make your payment IF dropped off before 2:00 p.m. otherwise it will be mailed the following day.
