   Van Buren is is the only town in the area without a running golf course. Citizens and the High School golf team are having to drive 20-30 minutes to smaller towns to play golf, thus pouring money into...

   Van Buren is is the only town in the area without a running golf course. Citizens and the High School golf team are having to drive 20-30 minutes to smaller towns to play golf, thus pouring money into other towns and their restaurants. Cedars is a 9 hole course on 68 acres that would be a perfect addition to the wonderful park and city lake area. The course is currently owned by the city but being poorly managed by a private family. I recommend that the City of Van Buren take control of the golf course and use COVID relief funds and other supplements to renovate the course and the equipment needed to mow/maintain the layout. There is no reason why Alma, Mountainburg, Poteau, Dyer, Charleston, Ozark, Clarksville, Fort Smith, and Danville can have golf courses while Van Buren citizens are left having to drive to play golf. The location of Cedars would allow weekday and weekend use for VB residents and the golf team.
